I thought this was too funny!! We were all hanging out upstairs before going out of town for Thanksgiving. Luke wanted his lunch upstairs, so I had it on the Lightening McQueen table. Well, before we knew it we looked over and Ella was eating Luke's sandwich and drinking his drink out of his drink box!!! It was hilarious. When we took a picture, she just looked at us like, "what"! They are just too funny.

Oops

This event is a little past, but I wanted to mention Luke's soccer tournament. Uncle Michael came in town to go to the game with Ella and I. I think he really enjoyed seeing him played. It was FREEZING, but we still had fun. Then Michael went out to eat with us and staid the night. We really enjoyed getting to see him, and going to our first soccer tournament!!

been a while

It has been crazy with the holidays and such and I have not had much time to sit and post. We went to Arlington for Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed our trip. I will post pics from Thanksgiving later, my dad has them because I forgot my camera. Evertything went well, and we enjoyed being with our family.

While we were in town we decided to have a little family vacation. Jay took off the week, which is the first time he has taken off in a year! We decided to make the most of it and do some fun things around the DFW area. We went to the World Aquarium in Dallas. It was awesome! It was like a zoo and aquarium in one. It had a great open air area where you could see the animals in their own (simulated) environment. The kids loved it. We even brought Nana with us, much to Luke's delight, and met with our great friends Chas and daughter Gracie.

Little Get Away!!

Last week Jay went to San Francisco for work, and I tagged along! I was so excited to get to spend some time with just Jay. I was also excited to go to California. I had never been anywhere on the west coast. We had a wonderful time, and were really able to reconnect. We stayed a beautiful hotel. We went sight seeing, saw fishermans wharf, crooked street, Ghiradelli square, we even drove around Berkley. We walked the Golden Gate bridge, and drove the bay bridge. Don't forget Alcatraz, I was really intrigued by that. We even came back with jail bird jammies for the kids!! We saw all and more that San Francisco had to offer. I would have loved to stay a few more days, but the time I had was great! Jay's mom came and watched the children, we were so blessed to have her take time off work to come stay with the kids so we could have a romantic (even though it was work based) get-away.

Oh yeah, check out the video of the sea lions at Pier 39. They were so LOUD, the only thing more extreme than the noise was the smell - STINKY!!!

P.S. the weather was so cold, and I was totally not prepared!!

Last Game

This past Saturday was a big day for Luke. He had his last soccer game. Nana and Gramps came in town to watch the game. He was very excited because this was the first time anyone had seen him play, other than mom and dad. He wanted to show his stuff! He had a blast! Afterward, he had a team party at a nearby park. I think he enjoyed that more than the soccer, but hey he is three what do you expect!! The best part, he got a trophy. We had a wonderful weekend, and we were so blessed to have family to share it with us.

The Main Event!

Ok, so our countdown calendar was finally complete. Luke was so excited that Halloween day was finally here. We met with some of the kids in the neighborhood and ate dinner then went on our way trick-or-treating. Luke really enjoyed it this year. I think it was even more special because he got to share it with other kids. Our neighborhood was so much fun!! Many streets were outside sitting together, with the parents all dressed up and handing out candy. All the houses were decorated really cool, and overall the neighborhood was terrific! Ella dressed up too, in her little butterfly costume. The antennas didn't last too long, but I think she had fun too. She is getting so big! She really loves being around other kids, already the social butterfly.

We finally found time to make it to the pumpkin patch. The weather was VERY cool (for TX) so we did not stay long. We wanted to get a pumpkin and some cute pictures. We lucked out that a church in our neighborhood has a pumpkin patch that is open 7 days a week until 9pm around Halloween. We had fun on our short visit, and did get some cute shots!

Carnival

The Merkts down the street invited us to a carnival at Rachel's elementary school. We headed out when Jay got home from work, so we didn't stay too long. It was also SUPER crowded and not too stroller friendly. Luke had a blast though. There was a huge inflatable slide that he couldn't get enough of. He also got a laser sword to go with his costume (that he was all too willing to put on again), so he was good. The only downer to the day was that Luke lost a privilege. He was supposed to go to the carnival with Tyler and Alyssa, and that was taken away. Let's just say there was an incident involving large quantities of toilet paper and mom's final straw!! He is such a good boy, but we all have our limits - ha ha

MOMs club party

Luke's Halloween costume has gotten a lot of use this year, which is good. He totally loves wearing it, but make sure you call it "buzz with the flying wings" not just buzz!! He wore it to the zoo last weekend, now he had a party this week and a little carnival he went to. I must admit I am a sucker for the holidays. You name it, I do it up big! I really enjoy celebrating the holidays, I always have. Now it is ten times better with little ones. :)

This past Friday my MOMs group of Greatwood had it's annual Halloween party. Luke loved it. He got to wear his costume, and I dressed up Ella too. Only thing is Ella zonked out before I could get any cute pictures of her in her complete costume. Guess I can't complain that she can fall asleep amongst 30 plus screaming small children. I will just have to try extra hard to get some pics come halloween night!

Operation: take a nap

I am able to do two posts today because I have started operation take a nap. It may sound harsh, but to those moms of you out there you understand it's importance. My 3yr old has recently decided he does not want to nap anymore, and my 9month old is following suit. Well, that just won't cut it around here. Thus begins operation take a nap. I will let you know how it goes, my fingers are crossed (and I am typing fast for fear they may awaken at any moment) :)

We went to boo at the zoo this weekend. It was the first weekend for this event at the Houston zoo, so we decided to venture out. We met up with our neighbors from down the street, the Merkts. Luke loves their kids, Tyler and Alyssa, and Jay and I get along great with the parents. The kids had a blast wearing their costumes and checking out the animals. Luke finally got to show off his Buzz with the flying wings (as he refers to it), and I decided not to put Ella in her costume. She is a butterfly, and butterfly wings and strollers don't mesh, so she just dressed halloween with her super cute bow. They had a pumpkin patch where the kids could pick small pumpkins and paint them, and little candy stands throughout the zoo. It was very cute, I must say though, that we were not the only ones with this idea. It was packed!! Personally it was too crowded for me, but hey it's not about me is it.

Cute things they do

Luke's new favorite thing to do is "check on Ella". While this sounds like it might be helpful, and at times it is, he wants to do it ALL the time. The best is when he wakes up before she does and rises me out of bed by asking (threatening) to go check on Ella. Just another cute thing siblings do to each other...

Here goes....

Ok, so I have been viewing all of the blogs of my friends and others and thought they were adorable! I decided I would take a crack at it for myself. I am not so sure how to do this, so I am just going to do it. I really enjoy sharing fun things about my family with others, and I love reading about their adventures too. My family is my number one priority these days, so I just thought I would share some of what goes on with us. We are so blessed to have two beautiful children, and a happy home.
With the beginning of this new year we have Luke at school two days a week, at St. Laurence Catholic church. He loves going, and enjoys playing with his friends there (mommy enjoys the time off too). Luke also has soccer practice once a week and games on Saturday mornings. This is hilarious! Luke loves soccer, just not the games. He is doing great though, and we love going.
Jay is well into his "civilian" job, and loves it. He is really doing wonderful, which is why he works a lot! The traveling is crazy, with places like Dubai, Aberdeen, and Singapore, but it is a heck of a lot better than year long deployments! We are very proud of him, and I am grateful to be allowed to stay at home with the kiddos.
Ella is fabulous! She is getting so big, which I am in denial of because I keep buying her clothes to small (we went to the zoo when she was 8months old and I bought her a 6month size tshirt). I guess I am just not ready to have two big kids. She is crawling all over the place, and loves standing. When she stands up, she is so happy until she realizes she doesn't know how to get down. Check out her new stand up toy! On a side note, you will never catch Ella with out a bow on top. I took her out at St. Patricks day when she was only a few months old, and she was called a boy. I vowed it would never happen again, so she has been a "bowhead" ever since.
Well, I have babbled enough for the first one of these. Let's see how long until I actually do another. :)
